How it works
Draws straight into GPU memory and sleeps when nothing moves. The lightest option. Tested on PowerVR so far.
The same way LG's own apps draw, so it works on most TVs. About 20 MB more RAM.
A plain home under LG's app runner. Same screens, a bit heavier, and Home takes a moment longer.
FAQ
LG's home is full of ads, promoted rows and services running in the background. Hiten is a clean home with just your apps, and it uses less memory and CPU.
Yes. Wallpapers, clock styles, the dock, the volume pop-up and a screensaver, all from the Hiten menu.
No. While an app is open, Hiten draws nothing and gives memory back. Only the volume pop-up shows over apps.
Hiten itself only goes online for the weather. It can also switch off LG's own tracking and ads (Nukes).
Yes. "Try it" runs Hiten for one boot only. If anything looks wrong, restart the TV and LG's home comes back by itself.

No. It sits on top of the stock home without modifying system files. Turned off, the TV is stock again.
Rooted LG TVs on webOS 6 or newer. Tested on webOS 10 (LG UR7500). OLED and QNED models use a different GPU and still need testers.
In the testers' room on Matrix: #projecthiten:matrix.org. Your TV model and webOS version help a lot.
Replacing the home screen and drawing with the GPU need system access that normal apps don't get.
They can. Keeping firmware updates off is recommended while the project is in development.
